A special judge AS Sayyad of Mumbai Court acquitted Bollywood Star Sooraj Pancholi of abetment charges in actress Jiah Khan suicide case.

Actress Jiah Khan was found hanging by her mother in Juhu, Mumbai. The actor Sooraj Pancholi, was arrested by the Juhu Police for abetment to suicide after a 6-page letter was found in her house that was purportedly written by late actress Jiah khan.

Khan’s mother moved to Bombay High Court seeking transfer of the investigation to the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI). Due to which the case got transferred to Central Bureau of Investigation. 

The CBI charged Pancholi with abetment of suicide under Section 306 of the (IPC) Indian Penal Code.

Pancholi’s lawyer moved to the special court where he argued that CBI had only produced 14 witnesses and the case had been pending since 2014.

Pancholi has been acquitted by the special judge due to paucity of evidence.
