Case Title: Raziuddin Nashar vs State of Gujarat

The division bench of Justices CT Ravikumar and Rajesh Bindal  of the Supreme Court granted bail to an accused who is involved in the 2013 Sabarmati Jail break case.

The decision was made based on the fact that the trial in the case had not commenced for over 11 years, during which time the accused had been incarcerated.

Raziuddin Nashar, who was detained in 2008 in connection with the Ahmedabad Blasts, had remained imprisoned when he was implicated in the 2013 jailbreak case.

However, he was eventually cleared of all charges in the Ahmedabad blasts case by a special court in February 2022.

Regarding the jailbreak case, the prosecution cited 169 witnesses, and even after a decade, the trial has not begun, making it difficult to predict when it will conclude.
