The Centre Has Withdrawn Three Criminal Law Bills- Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita, Bharatiya Nagarik Suraksha Sanhita and Bharatiya Sakshya Bill, 2023 And Plans To Reintroduce Them With Modifications In Accordance With The Suggestions Made By The Parliamentary Committee.

During his address to Lok Sabha, the Union Minister, Amit Shah, emphasized that the drafting of the three laws had undergone extensive consultation, including with 18 states, 7 union territories, judges from the Supreme Court and High Court, 22 law universities, 142 MPs, 270 MLAs, numerous public representatives. The entire process of gathering inputs took four years and include a staggering 158 meetings.

The new criminal law bills were introduced in the Parliament’s Monsoon session in August.
