The division bench of Chief Justice Satish Chandra Sharma and Justice Subramonium Prasad while dealing with the appeals issued contempt notice to a lawyer and his clients after they alleged that the single judge ‘dishonesty’ decided the matter against them.

While examining the appeals justice observed that it was inappropriate to made such types of allegations against the judge.

The bench said that “Let notice of contempt be issued to the petitioner and the counsel for making such type of reckless allegations against the learned single-judge which brings down the majesty of the court”.

The counsel appearing for the petitioner submitted that as per Supreme Court’s order, the word ‘dishonesty’ does not amount to contempt and further requested to record their submission.
