Godman Asaram Bapu gets convicted by Gandhinagar Court on Monday for raping the female disciple on several occasions at this Surat Ashram in 2013.

Additional Sessions Judge D.K.Soni convicted Asaram for offences under Section 376 (rape), 377 (unnatural sex), 354 (outraging modesty of a woman), 346 (wrongful confinement), 120B (criminal conspiracy) and 201 (destroying evidence) of the Indian Penal Code.

An FIR came to be lodged at Chandkheda Police Station in Ahmedabad wherein it is alleged that the Asaram confined the victim in his Asharam at the outskirts of Surat City and raped her repeatedly from 2001 to 2006.

However, this is not the only case in which Asaram is convicted. Asaram is already serving life imprisonment in two other sexual offence cases.
